Lautje in the Backyard
Aside from generally spending time with the Nanny and Papa, Lautje's favorite activities invariably involved being outside in the backyard. Sometimes that meant taking golf lessons from the Daddy...
And sometimes that meant playing all by himself...
But perhaps Lautje's favorite pastime in the backyard (or even inside as well...) was playing with the Woof-Woof (or, Maggie, as everyone else called her). It was Lautje's first instance of spending any real time with a dog, and even though he was rather shy and scared at the start, by the end of the trip he was trailing after poor Maggie yelling "Woof-Woof!" and feeding her as much table food and biscuits as he could lay his hands on.
Rest in peace, Woof-Woof, and know that you are sorely missed by your curly-haired shadow (as well as the rest of the family). Thank you for hanging on long enough to steal a little boy's heart.

Maggie took it all in stride, though she was a bit too old and in a bit too much pain to let him get too friendly. But even if she was still wary of Lautje, she certainly enjoyed the fringe benefits of his visit: abundant table scraps, the energy of a 2 year old, and of course, a more-than-willing doorman anytime she wanted in or out of the house...
