Birthday Boy

Christmas Craze barely behind him, the Dude had to face the next challenge: his birthday. After a week of impatient anticipation, he enjoyed this special day to the fullest - his sister somewhat less so... her running commentary throughout the day was: "and when it's MY birthday, I want that, too!!!" She did, however, enjoy helping to bake the birthday cake:
A cake that he loved, proceeded to blow out the candles on, and then would not actually eat - previously unthinkable for anything that involved chocolate! So the Mommy and daddy were a little worried for a minute until his exceptionally cheerful mood convinced them he was perfectly fine but simply too excited to focus on anything as mundane as nutrition...
And then there were power tools. Making noise while "drilling holes" into the couch with the Oma - how much cooler does it get...
As the perfect ending to a perfect day, the other birthday guest was coaxed into some extra-long night-time reading:
