Texas Food

One of the kid's favorite things about Texas was definitely the food. That is not to say that they appreciated all of the delicious varieties of TexMex and Barbecue. Quite the contrary, when faced with a table loaded with the yummiest fajitas, guacamole, queso and salsa, what did Anneke spend her time eating? Ice cubes and flour tortillas...
No, it was not dinner food that held their attention. It was breakfast - waffles, bacon, maple syrup, sausages, eggs, and pancakes...
 In all forms and variations...
Naturally, dessert was also of specific interest, particularly the very American tradition of dipping your oreo cookies in milk until they all but dissolve, then scooping the gooey mass out with the entire hand stuck in the milk glass and stuffing it into your mouth while trying to get your t-shirt as dirty as possible. At least, this was Lautje's interpretation of things...
And then there was ice cream... with chocolate sauce... which is appreciated in any country!
But at the end of the day, it was breakfast food that made the most lasting impression...
... and left Lautje with a new temple to worship at: The International House of Pancakes! Incidentally, also known as "The Mommy's Favorite Place to Be"...
However, all good things must eventually come to an end. And since there was very little food to be had in the check-in area of the airport, the Twosome let themselves be convinced to pose for one last family portrait:
