More Adventures in Eating

As previously mentioned, Lautje is at a stage where he has decided that he will only eat "real" food, and even then, only what the Mommy and Daddy are eating (which means that the Daddy is no longer allowed to cook with cayenne pepper or chili powder, which is a serious blow to his culinary creativity...). Lautje's most recent conquest was the Mommy's blueberries, which she foolishly thought she might be able to enjoy on her own. Lautje finally discovered that blueberries actually have flavor if you chew them, as opposed to just spitting them out whole...

And, while cereal continues to be a perennial Lautje favorite, it is actually the leftover Chocolate milk that has really caught Lautje's attention: to the extent that if the Daddy isn't feeding him quickly enough, he's quite prepared to take matters into his own hands.

Needless to say, the white cover on the couch requires washing on a fairly regular basis these days. The Mommy, of course, is thrilled about Lautje's milk infatuation (or is it the Daddy's sloppy feeding skills?).

Lautje and the Mommy

Like all mothers and sons, the Mommy and Lautje have a complex relationship. But one thing is certain, it definitely revolves around Mommy-Lautje contact. Generally, that means the Mommy picking Lautje up when he wants to schmooze a little, as can be seen below.
Sometimes, it involves the Mommy consoling poor Lautje after his mean Daddy wouldn't let him do something completely normal, like hammer the Daddy's laptop with a book or eat the Mommy's cell phone. Regardless, scenes like the one below are not uncommon when the Mommy's sympathetic shoulder is necessary.
But most of the time, the Mommy-Lautje relationship looks something like the photo below: Lautje hanging out with the Mommy (and sometimes using her to hang upside down, his favorite position) and laughing hysterically the entire time...

Lautje being Lautje

As much as the Mommy and Daddy sometimes wish that Lautje were a nice, boring, manageable child, they realize that it is precisely his curiosity, playfulness, and general troublemaking ability that makes living with him so incredibly fun. Thus, a few of Lautje's most recent funny-boy photos seemed in order. Below, you can see Lautje indulging his laziness (a trait inherited from his Daddy...). Placed on the floor after grumping, he decided to just quietly lie there for a few minutes and contemplate the mysteries of the world.
As always, whenever Lautje gets his hands on a remote control, he's loathe to let it go, even when attacked by a runaway Kleenex...
Why go around the high chair, when you can simply (or not so simply...) crawl through? And, of course, the coup de grace. One fine evening, while the Mommy and Daddy weren't paying enough attention, Lautje decided to remove all of the paper from the paper recycling bag. By the time they looked up (he's quicker then you might think...), nearly the entire contents of the bag were spread out across the office floor. What was left but to take a photo?
