The Holidays
Now that the Daddy has a functioning computer again, it seems appropriate to give a condensed version of the holiday season for Lautje and Anneke. Up first can be seen a rather dark photo of the family's Thanksgiving dinner with the Oma, Uncle Heiko and Aunt Stephie. A good time was had by all, not the least because the Mommy baked a superb turkey (and, of course, the Daddy cooked his special Guinness Stout dressing...).
Following upon Thanksgiving was the Christmas season, which naturally (after much prompting and emotional blackmail from the Granny) included a decorated Christmas tree. Lautje was highly impressed with this new addition to the living room, especially since it contained numerous Bevo Christmas ornaments (for the unitiated, Bevo is the mascot for the Daddy's former university), which he delighted in pointing out on an hourly basis.
And, of course, the Mommy pulled out all of the stops for Christmas Eve dinner, baking a chicken and roasting potatoes.

Christmas day was even more eventful, since Lautje had approximately 1 million new toys with which to amuse himself. He never grew tired of any of them, he simply played the entire day, skipping from one new toy to the next. The Mommy and Daddy, on the other hand, spent a good portion of the day trying to keep Lautje from spreading all of the used wrapping paper throughout the apartment (he apparently thought the wide dispersal of wrapping paper was one of his toys and was very sad when they were recycled...).
Christmas also means new articles of clothing... Though in this particular instance, Lautje decided to steal the Daddy's new hat. What is a Daddy supposed to do, say "No"?
Finally, the holiday season ended with Lautje's birthday and the blowing out of candles. Although he didn't really need it, he welcomed a little bit of help from the Mommy and Oma. Anneke was also quite happy to have everyone's attention diverted for a few precious moments as she pursued her own little present...
