A Star is Born
Lautje's love affair with his guitar is as strong as ever. Repeatedly throughout the day, he will spontaneously pull out his beloved instrument and regale his adoring sister and parents with a song from his ever-expanding repertoire. His current favorites include "Alle meine Entchen schwimmen im Spinat" (all my little ducklings swimming in the spinach), which cracks him up every single time, and "Old McDonald Had a Farm", with Anneke contributing a heartfelt II-AAA-II-AAA-HOOOOOOO. "Folsom Prison" is also an evergreen, although the Mommy and Daddy have altered the lyrics a bit after Lautje became too inquisitive about the gun incident. The all-time favorite, however, is a song by Jason Mraz. Lautje is be a bit vague on the lyrics, as he first heard the song as "Outdoors" on Sesame Street, sung by Jason Mraz with different lyrics, and only later got introduced to the real version "I'm Yours" (which is why Lautje refers to the actual song as "the other different song that is the same"). What he lacks in textual acuity, he more than makes up for with his passionate delivery and emphatic moves:
And like a true star, Lautje immediately wants to see himself perform on video -"Mommy, have you taken the video yet?"
