The Cutie Boy and his Sister

As mentioned, Lautje can be a little bit jealous of his little sister at times. Specifically, whenever the Mommy breast feeds Anneke (which these days is about every hour...): he wants the Mommy's attention. In these instances, the Daddy is completely superfluous (for both anatomical and psychological reasons). Normally a compromise is reached: Lautje brings his toy to the Mommy (and the irrelevant Daddy kicks his feet up on the couch and watches the hilarity unfold...).
However, considering that his entire world literally changed overnight, Lautje's transformation from only sibling to big brother has been remarkable and rather heartwarming. He is truly interested in his little sister, and always wants to touch her face and rub her hair. A cynical person might argue that this last bit is Lautje's most overt display of jealousy, as Anneke at 2 weeks has more hair than Lautje does at 19 months. However, the Mommy and Daddy prefer to view Lautje's actions as signs of affection...

Return of the Cutie-boy

While life around the old homestead doesn't just revolve around Lautje anymore, that doesn't mean that he hasn't been up to his old troublemaking tricks lately. In fact, since Anneke's arrival, Lautje has probably been even more entertaining. At the least, he's definitely been more assertive, telling everyone exactly what he wants. Such as eating a banana on the couch all on his own...
Even as the Mommy glares at him with that "Don't get any on the couch" look...
Though, in addition to his causing trouble, he's also taken more of a hand in trying to help clean up some of his mess: he finds the cleaning utensils fascinating...

It is still somewhat arguable whether Lautje's version of "help" with regards to cleaning is really "helpful", but it's fun to watch nonetheless. And, in any event, it's a phase that will likely go away once he realizes that cleaning is, in fact, definitely not fun.
