The Advent's Calendar

Although Lautje still doesn't really understand the entire concept of Christmas (he is, after all, a Daddy's boy...), thanks to the Oma he's quite familiar with the idea of an advent's calendar. The Oma put together a massive Lego-themed calendar for him, and Lautje is quickly becoming enamored with the entire month of December.
As can be seen below, he's definitely enjoying his calendar. Everyday is a new adventure in Lego pieces for him, and a new challenge for the Mommy and Daddy in trying to keep him from raiding the "future" days for even more pieces.
The Oma definitely did well... Now, if the Mommy and Daddy could only figure out why Lautje insists on exclusively linking together similar colored pieces, everything would be perfect.

St. Martin's Day

A few weeks ago, Lautje participated in the traditional St. Martin's Day processional march at his daycare: carrying a lantern (OK, the Daddy carried it...) while going for a walk. Neither Lautje (too young) nor the Daddy (too American) really understood why they were walking around with lots of other kids carrying a lantern. Unfortunately, the Mommy's explanation ("It has something to do with St. Martin and a coat") wasn't particularly enlightening...
Lautje found the lantern entertaining though...
Luckily for Lautje, the Oma was on hand to explain everything (and carry him: Lautje's not much on marching...).
And so Lautje and few of his closest friends went to see the local St. Martin's Day processional march. With their lanterns, naturally...
