Anneke's Busy Schedule

Even though most of the photos from Texas so far have been of Lautje, that isn't to say that Anneke wasn't around and getting plenty of attention. And although she had an extreme case of "Mommyitis" for the first week or two, she nevertheless spent a significant amount of the trip sitting with (or jumping on...) the Nanny.
Her other favorite pastime (or, to phrase it more correctly: the activity Anneke did that was the Mommy and Daddy's favorite...) was sleeping outside on the patio. The Nanny bought a vibrating chair for Anneke, and it not only kept her happy when she was awake, but it helped keep her asleep even when her noisy brother was chasing poor Maggie around the backyard screaming "Woof-Woof! Woof-Woof!"
Naturally, Anneke also found time when she was awake to harass her brother (who, for some obscure reason, not only submits gracefully to her harassment, but actually seems to enjoy it): "Look Mommy, I've got him!"
In spite of her busy schedule of naps, brother harassment, and quality Nanny-time, Anneke also found time to practice her funny faces:
This particular face is obviously one that she picked up by watching the Papa...

Lautje in the Backyard

Aside from generally spending time with the Nanny and Papa, Lautje's favorite activities invariably involved being outside in the backyard. Sometimes that meant taking golf lessons from the Daddy...
And sometimes that meant playing all by himself...
But perhaps Lautje's favorite pastime in the backyard (or even inside as well...) was playing with the Woof-Woof (or, Maggie, as everyone else called her). It was Lautje's first instance of spending any real time with a dog, and even though he was rather shy and scared at the start, by the end of the trip he was trailing after poor Maggie yelling "Woof-Woof!" and feeding her as much table food and biscuits as he could lay his hands on.
Maggie took it all in stride, though she was a bit too old and in a bit too much pain to let him get too friendly. But even if she was still wary of Lautje, she certainly enjoyed the fringe benefits of his visit: abundant table scraps, the energy of a 2 year old, and of course, a more-than-willing doorman anytime she wanted in or out of the house...
Rest in peace, Woof-Woof, and know that you are sorely missed by your curly-haired shadow (as well as the rest of the family). Thank you for hanging on long enough to steal a little boy's heart.
