A Matter of Perspective
Like all little girls, Anneke enjoys playing with her doll. This can involve anything and everything: taking her to daycare (otherwise known as taking her to the living room); feeding her (plastic) food; and reading to her (from a book with no words). Sometimes, though, the "play" begins to involve elements of actual reality. Such as when Anneke decides to give her doll a bath:
And just when the Mommy and Daddy begin to think that Anneke is all grown up and able to take care of herself, and can begin to envision her decades from now with children of her own (multiple, multiple decades from the Daddy's point of view...), and what a wonderful mother she will be, the illusion crumbles...
The bathing process begins to resemble something closer to "drowning"... Lautje, though, assures us that dolls don't need air.
